Great black currants

We are buying second time. Raw black currants are great. Only make call your post office to make sure they deliver it on time.
Still completely frozen upon arrival, a great product.

I was surprised to have to remove stems from some currants. Not difficult, but not required in my January 2016 shipment.
A minor grizzle: neither my phone call nor emailed was returned. At the time sent I was nearby and could have saved shipping charges.
Worth the Extra Cost to Buy De-Stemmed!

These were on sale, so thought I would give the “raw” berries a try. Never again! The 3 pound bag was filled with twigs and stems and many very underripe and crushed berries. I have only cleaned up about a third of the bag and it has taken me 45 minutes. The currants are delicious and make great black currant gelato and I will order again, but it is worth paying twice to cost to buy the de-stemmed berries.

I've ordered De-stemmed before the latest "In-the-Raw" and while i expected twigs and stems i was not expecting under ripe berries, however the made product still came out the same. 5 pounds was work that i had time for but I've got to hand it to your workers as far as De-stemmed goes, I'd personally rather pay the extra amount for the labor that goes into De-stemming than "In-the-Raw". I need a nap after that, hurt my back like I'd been on the field lol.

good berries many twigs though
perfect for black currant jelly
Posted by Joanna Fowler on 19th Apr 2016
In the past I have had trouble with jelling. So before I ordered these black currants in the raw I called and requested to have some unripe currants included in the order for their pectin. For the first batch I used 2 lbs and left the remaining 3 lbs in the freezer for future use. Two pounds made three 8 oz jars of beautiful jelly.
